Experiences and Itineraries

Time is not measured in hours and minutes but in experiences and transformations.

To welcome you at the B&B Antiche Vie there will be Cinzia, a friendly and welcoming landlady,

born and raised in the area; She will be able to recommend itineraries in the territory and, on request, to organise excursions (walking, trekking) with a local naturalist guide.

Thanks to an agreement with a nearby riding school, called "La Selva", it will be possible to book lessons and horse riding (the ranch is also equipped to accommodate horses during your stay).

Cinzia is daughter of cheesemakers and has an expert knowledge of the entire Parmigiano Reggiano DOP production chain: from the organic farms, to the pastures, to all the stages of processing in the dairy.

She can be your guide to discover the traditional processing of the

prized organic Parmigiano Reggiano in an artisanal cheese factory

and in the guided tasting of different maturation stages (vertical) of Organic Parmigiano Reggiano

from the Modenese White Cow (Slow-Food Presidium).

Our territory is really rich in history and traditions that everyone will be able to find, experience

and appreciate in every aspect, detail and sensation.

Cinzia can also take you on a guided tour of an "acetaia", place where traditional Modena Balsamic Vinegar is produced. She can also organise cookery courses for you

to learn the art of Emilian puff pastry, "tortelloni" and stuffed "tortellini".

The B&B Antiche Vie has an agreement with a typical trattoria nearby, where you can taste

all the traditional dishes, such as homemade stuffed pasta from the "Rezdore" of Pompeano:

"crescentine", "borlenghi", etc...

For families with children, there will be the possibility to run free in the large meadow around the house,

to play on the trampoline in the garden, to see the donkeys, the horses and the cows in the stable and adjacent enclosure, and to visit the Alpacas on a nearby farm.

The B&B Antiche Vie, is located in a place that is a source of inspiration and where there is no limit to creativity; on fine days, in spring and summer, you can appreciate the landscape, the pure air, the relaxation, and you can simply find your own balance immersed in the nature.

For painting and photography lovers, each season offers a myriad of colours, wonderful views of the landscape, and historic villages dominated by the ancient mass of Mount Cimone.

On request you can book foot reflexology sessions for a complete wellness and relaxation

in harmony with nature.

Guided tour into an artisanal dairy to watch the processing of organic Parmigiano Reggiano dop

If you are in our area, it is an unmissable opportunity to visit a cheese factory and watch

the processing of organic Parmigiano Reggiano DOP. Cinzia, as an expert in all stages of processing,

can organise interesting guided tours.

And when was this famous cheese born?

If we are grateful to the Benedictine and Cistercian monks for passing on to us a culture that would otherwise have disappeared in the dark centuries of the Middle Ages, we also owe to them the flourishing of agriculture and the vast land reclamation projects that affected Italy,

and in particular the territories of Emilia.

Even more: we also owe the monks the Parmigiano Reggiano.

Guided tour into the Balsamic Vinegar Acetaia

in Modena

The origin of balsamic Vinegar date back to Ancient Romans, who made the first  Balsamic Vinegar types. In 1046 King Henry III, the future Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, speaked for the first time about this extraordinary vinegar, during his trip to Rome to be crowned.

From the reinassance, balsamic Vinegar of Modena became a refined condiment in the European Nobility.

Visiting a vinegar cellar, the guests could understand  the “balsamic vinegar” ancient art and relevant instruments to hand manufacture it, having a look at charming batches of several casks ordered by decreasing volume. Here it is possible to taste different aging of  balsamic vinegar

Animals and Rural Surroundings

The place in which Pompeano of Serramazzoni is located, preserves the old rural knowledges and activities. You can find sown grounds and lucerne fields, organic farmings and Parmigiano Reggiano DOP dairies. You can meet nice donkeys (near to B&B) and, in a farm in the neighbourhood, also sweet alpacas!

In this area it is protected  the autochthonous breed of white Modenese cow, which became almost extinct and now is a Slow Food Presidium.
